About

Harpist Sheila Kredit began playing the harp when she was five years old and her mom brought a rental harp home one day.  The harp has remained a part of her life ever since!

As a child she studied with Laura Hodges at The Enchanted Harp in Puyallup, and then later with Bianca Collings, graduate of the University of Washington School of Music.  Sheila went on to major in the harp at Northwestern University's School of Music in Chicago, studying under the principal harpist of the Chicago Lyric Opera House, Elizabeth Cifani.

During college, she also studied abroad for a month in Florence, Italy at the Bel Canto Music Festival for harp and voice, studying with faculty from the New York Metropolitan Opera.

She has performed as a soloist for numerous concerts, weddings, funerals, fundraisers, and music festivals.  She has performed as an orchestral harpist with the Olympia Student Orchestra of Greater Olympia, the Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble, several chamber recitals, and theater productions including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and the opera The Merry Widow.

She enjoys all genres of music, and has a particular love of music with Baroque, Latin, and Celtic origin and influence.  She plays both folk and pedal harp.  She lives in Yakima, WA.
